Gabby was named after the founder’s youngest daughter, who has the Gift of Gab. The “gift of gab” is an idiom that refers to the ability to speak easily, confidently, and persuasively. Like the Φ symbol on the bell — which represents the golden ratio, the mathematical principle behind Fibonacci retracements, natural balance, and perfect proportion — both are a reminder that this system isn’t random. It’s architecturally sound. Designed to bring order to chaos, structure to emotion, and discipline to the one thing most traders can’t enforce on themselves: their own rules.

Does Gabby make trading decisions?
No. Gabby is an analytical interface to FirstBell data — not a financial adviser. She explains what the system has calculated, surfaces patterns from your journal, and challenges your thinking. She is not a registered investment adviser and does not provide investment advice. The tagline on her screen says it best: “Every trade decision is yours. Gabby helps you think — she does not think for you.”
Does the AI require an OpenAI account or monthly AI fees?
No. By default, Gabby uses Ollama — a free, local AI runner that runs entirely on your machine. No API key required. No monthly AI bill. If you have an NVIDIA GPU with 8GB+ VRAM, the model runs there. Otherwise it falls back to CPU. You can optionally configure a cloud provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) in the FirstBell Settings page.
Is my trading data safe when using Gabby?
Yes. When using Ollama (the default), everything stays on your machine — no data leaves your computer. If you configure a cloud AI provider, your prompts and FirstBell context data are sent to that provider according to their privacy policy. Your broker API keys and account data are never part of Gabby’s context.
What AI model does Gabby use?
By default, Gabby uses llama3.1:8b via Ollama on your local machine. You can change the model in FirstBell Settings. Recommended local models for trading conversations: llama3.1:8b (default), qwen2.5:7b. Cloud providers support any model they offer.

What Gives Gabby Context
Gabby doesn't guess. She works from your history.
